Reservation & Payment:
Your reservation and payment can be made easily on this website or, by email/facsimile/recorded surface mail plus inter-bank transfer. Fees incurred for transferring funds to our bank from yours must be borne by you.
To confirm your room reservation and to benefit from quoted rates a 25% deposit payment is required. You may pay this deposit up to 6 months in advance of your stay with us.
Buckingham Place must receive the remaining 75% balance no less than 30 days before your arrival at the hotel to guarantee current rates and your reservation.
Full payment is required to confirm reservations made 30 days (or less) prior to arrival.
Within 1 -5 working days your reservation will be confirmed by email. We may also telephone you to confirm certain information. Alternatively, you may request surface mail or facsimile confirmation.
Accommodation charge rates are ‘per room night’ irrespective of single or double occupancy - all rooms have one double bed. Breakfast plus all local/government taxes are included in the rate charged (see below also).
For convenience, rates shown are in US Dollars. We include government taxes and base our calculations on current exchange rates. Despite regular fluctuations of both, the rate you pay is guaranteed at the time of payment.
Sri Lankan currency regulations do not permit users of foreign credit cards to be charged in foreign currency. At the time of payment Buckingham Place simply converts US Dollars to Sri Lankan Rupees at the universal selling exchange-rate. After arrival you will be charged in Sri Lankan Rupees for extras such as meals and beverages. Please note, your credit card company may debit your account at the daily exchange rate applicable on your account date.
We exclude from our rates:
Meals and beverages other than breakfasts, flights, airport transfers, excursions/other transport needs, service charges where applicable, medical or special needs, travel insurance, personal laundry, repatriation to your country of origin in the event of emergency.
Buckingham Place recommends that you obtain appropriate travel and medical insurance before arriving in Sri Lanka and, consult your doctor if concerned about health issues.
Fair cancellation & refunds policy:
Should you need to cancel your reservation or change it we obviously require fair and adequate notice. Cancellations take effect from the date Buckingham Place receives your cancellation notice by email or recorded surface mail.
Buckingham Place will deduct an administration/bank fee of US$20, from your refund;

100% of all monies received if cancellation is 90 days or more in advance of reservation commencement date.

80% of all monies received where cancellation is between 45 and 90 days in advance of commencement date.

60% of all monies received where cancellation is between 21 days and 45 days in advance of commencement date.

25% of all monies received where cancellation is between 7 days and 21 days in advance of commencement date.
In the event that cancellation notice is received less than 7 days in advance of commencement date no monies will be deemed refundable and you will be liable to pay room charges for the number of nights originally reserved by you.
We refund by the same method you use to pay us, but please note that it may take a little while to arrive due to exchange control formalities.
Buckingham Place will endeavor to rearrange a reservation at your request. Providing we can do so without risking or incurring loss no charge will be made. Should this situation arise your original commencement date will be deemed as fixed in terms of further change or subsequent cancellation.
Visas:
Tourists from around fifty countries are automatically granted a 30 day Tourist Visa on arrival which if needs be, can invariably be extended. At time of writing, tourists from the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Holland are among other nationals who share this privilege. Nonetheless, it remains the responsibility of guests to confirm this with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. For passport holders with less than 6 months passport validity, we advise that you ascertain whether or not you will be granted a visa.
Force Majeure:
Buckingham Leisure Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., operating as Buckingham Place reserves the right to cancel any reservation paid or unpaid whole or in part at any time as a result of force majeure or for reasons outside the company’s control, including but not limited to the failure of any third party to perform.
Buckingham Leisure Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., operating as Buckingham Place shall not be liable for damages of any kind arising out of failure or delay in performing any or all of its obligations contained herein if the failure or delay is due to circumstances or cause beyond its reasonable control.
Airport Departure Tax:
This cost is normally included in your flight ticket.
Privacy:
Buckingham Place respects everybody's right to privacy and gives assurance that personal information and/or data will not knowingly or intentionally be released to third parties unless ordered under law to do so. Unless you specify otherwise, we will use such information to provide our good service, maintain proper records and, from time to time notify you of information we believe may interest you.
Under 18’s:
Only in the presence of a parent or legal guardian will we request information regarding those below the age of 18. Furthermore, our questions will relate only to age and passport details upon check-in.
In the unlikely event:
Upon check-in you’ll be given the name and personal contact details of a designated English speaking member of our team. You are invited to discuss any dispute or issue of concern with this person in confidence. Director Nick Buckingham is generally on hand at short notice, but when not we simply ask that you outline your concern to him in writing for early attention.
It is our aim that if issues do arise, they are resolved amicably and immediately, leaving nothing outstanding beyond 5 days.
Legal Authority:
By making a reservation and payment to stay at Buckingham Place [Operated by Buckingham Leisure Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd.,] you warrant that you are over 18 years of age and have legal authority to enter into the contract constituted by acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. You further warrant that you will be financially responsible for the reservation and any other fees which may be charged in-connection with it and that you agree to these terms and conditions including without limitation payment of all money due under such terms and conditions.
